Hulu’s live TV streaming service is getting a handful of new channels that cord-cutters have been asking for!
A new partnership with Discovery will bring Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Motor Trend (the rebranded Velocity network) and Animal Planet to Hulu starting in December 2018.
Discovery makes a deal to bring 5 more networks to Hulu with Live TV
They join HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel, which have been on Hulu’s service from the start through a previous agreement with Scripps Networks Interactive, which is now owned by Discovery.
“At Discovery, we are committed to bringing our portfolio of high-quality, safe family friendly brands and content to viewers across every screen, service and device around the world,” said Eric Phillips, President of Affiliate Distribution at Discovery. “Our new agreement with Hulu affirms the strength of our brands and their value to viewers in a marketplace with an increasing array of options.”
Those who subscribe to Hulu’s traditional service will also benefit from the partnership. Nearly 4,000 episodes of shows that air on Discovery’s networks are joining Hulu’s streaming library.
Meanwhile, past episodes of several popular OWN shows are now available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
Discovery isn’t just making deals with Hulu. Clark.com has confirmed that select Discovery channels are coming to Sling TV, though a launch date hasn’t been announced quite yet.
Meanwhile, Discovery’s networks are noticeably absent from Clark’s favorite live TV streaming service, YouTube TV.
